Virtual Design Consultation Terms & Conditions
Booking Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 26 August 2026
These Booking Terms & Conditions apply to all Virtual Design Consultations booked with Christian Bense Studio (“the Studio”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Please read these terms carefully before making a booking. By completing your booking and accepting these terms at checkout, you agree to be bound by them.
These terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. About the Virtual Design Consultation
The Virtual Design Consultation is a one-to-one online design advisory service with Christian Bense.
Two consultation options are available:
The Design Consultation
60 minutes — £500 including VAT
A focused consultation intended for decorative, furnishing and specification decisions, which may include matters such as colour, materials, furniture, lighting, styling and general design direction.
The Technical Design Consultation
90 minutes — £700 including VAT
A more in-depth consultation for projects involving spatial planning, layouts, renovations, architectural plans, proposed alterations and more complex design decisions.
Where your questions span both decorative and technical or spatial matters, we recommend booking the Technical Design Consultation.
2. Nature of the Service
The Virtual Design Consultation is an advice-led service.
Christian will use the consultation to discuss your project with you, offer his professional design perspective and help you work through the questions, ideas or decisions you have identified.
The consultation is intended to provide greater clarity and direction for your project. It is not a substitute for a full interior design, architectural, structural, engineering, surveying or other specialist professional service where one is required.
Unless expressly agreed separately in writing, the consultation fee does not include:
Formal drawings;
CAD drawings or technical drawing packages;
Mood boards;
Renderings or visualisations;
Written specifications;
Detailed schedules;
Product sourcing;
Supplier quotations;
Procurement;
Construction documents;
Measured surveys;
Architectural services;
Structural or engineering advice;
Project management; or
A written report or summary following the consultation.
Any additional services would need to be discussed and agreed separately with the Studio.
3. Booking Your Consultation
Consultations are subject to availability.
You will be asked to select:
The consultation type;
An available appointment date and time; and
Your basic contact information.
Your booking is confirmed once:
Full payment has been successfully received; and
You receive a booking confirmation from the Studio or our booking platform.
You should check your confirmation carefully and contact us as soon as possible if any details are incorrect.
Bookings normally require a minimum of two working days' notice.
4. International Bookings and Time Zones
Virtual Design Consultations are available to UK and international clients.
Appointment times may be displayed in your local time zone where supported by the booking platform. Your booking confirmation and appointment reminders should also identify the applicable time zone.
It remains your responsibility to check the date, time and time zone shown on your booking confirmation and to join the consultation at the correct time.
5. Before We Meet
Following your booking, we will invite you to complete our Before We Meet Consultation Brief.
This helps Christian become acquainted with your project before your one-to-one and allows the consultation itself to focus on the questions and decisions that matter most to you.
You may be asked to provide information including:
Your project location;
The rooms or areas you would like to discuss;
A short description of your project;
The stage your project has reached;
The questions or decisions you would particularly like Christian's help with;
Inspiration or reference imagery;
Details of existing furniture, artwork or other pieces;
Photographs;
Floor plans;
Architectural drawings;
Lighting or joinery drawings;
Existing design schemes; and
Material or finish references.
Technical Design Consultation clients may also be asked for information concerning proposed alterations, layouts, spatial planning and work being undertaken by architects, designers, builders or other professionals.
6. When to Submit Your Consultation Brief
We recommend completing Before We Meet as soon as possible after booking and, where possible, no later than 72 hours before your consultation.
Information received after this point may still be accepted, but we cannot guarantee that Christian will have sufficient time to review it before your appointment.
Failure to complete Before We Meet does not automatically cancel your consultation.
However, Christian's ability to provide project-specific advice may be limited if insufficient information has been supplied in advance.
Your consultation will still end at its scheduled time.
7. Your Priority Questions
Consultation time is limited to the duration you have booked.
If there are several matters you would like to discuss, we recommend identifying the three questions or decisions that are most important to you in your Consultation Brief.
Christian will endeavour to cover as much as reasonably possible during your appointment, but we cannot guarantee that every question, room, drawing, product or issue submitted will be discussed.
Any matters that cannot be covered may require a further Virtual Design Consultation or a separate engagement with the Studio.
8. Information, Plans and Measurements You Provide
You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide to the Studio is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
This includes, where applicable:
Measurements;
Floor plans;
Architectural drawings;
Photographs;
Existing layouts;
Proposed layouts;
Product information;
Material information; and
Information supplied by your architect, builder, designer or other professional.
When submitting your Consultation Brief, you confirm that:
The information supplied is accurate to the best of your knowledge; and
You have the right or permission to share any photographs, plans, drawings, imagery or other material supplied to the Studio.
Where Christian is reviewing a layout, architectural plan or proposed alteration, you should provide the most up-to-date and accurate documents available.
The Studio is entitled to rely on the information you provide and will not independently survey, measure or verify your property as part of a Virtual Design Consultation.
You should therefore verify measurements, site conditions, construction feasibility and technical requirements with the appropriate contractor or qualified professional before ordering products, commissioning work or implementing significant alterations.
9. Third-Party Professionals and Approvals
Advice provided during a Virtual Design Consultation may need to be considered alongside advice from architects, contractors, structural engineers, electricians, plumbers, planning consultants or other relevant professionals.
You remain responsible for obtaining any professional advice, permissions, approvals, building regulations approval, planning permission or other consent required for your project.
Christian Bense Studio does not accept responsibility for the work, advice, pricing, availability or performance of third-party contractors, suppliers or consultants.
10. Fees and Payment
The current consultation fees are:
The Design Consultation — £500 including VAT
The Technical Design Consultation — £700 including VAT
Payment must be made in full at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed by the Studio in writing.
A booking will not be treated as confirmed where payment has failed or has not been completed.
11. Your Statutory Right to Cancel
If you are booking as a consumer online or at a distance, you may have a statutory right to cancel your contract within 14 days from the day after the contract is entered into, without giving a reason.
Nothing in these Booking Terms affects any statutory consumer rights you may have.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, please contact:
and clearly tell us that you wish to cancel your booking.
Services beginning during the 14-day cancellation period
If your appointment, preparation or other part of the service is due to begin within the statutory cancellation period, we may ask you to expressly request that the Studio begins providing the service before that cancellation period has expired.
This may include Christian reviewing your Consultation Brief, plans, photographs or other project material in preparation for your consultation.
Where you have requested that the service begins during the cancellation period and subsequently exercise a statutory cancellation right after part of the service has been provided, you may be required to pay an amount proportionate to the services already supplied, where permitted by law.
Where the service has been fully performed following your express request and acknowledgement, your statutory right to cancel may end once the service has been fully performed.
12. Rescheduling Your Appointment
Subject to your statutory rights, you may request to reschedule your consultation up to 72 hours before the scheduled appointment.
Rescheduling is subject to availability.
Please contact studio@christianbense.com as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment.
Requests made less than 72 hours before your consultation will be considered at the Studio's discretion and will normally only be accommodated in exceptional circumstances.
If your appointment is successfully rescheduled, any Consultation Brief you have already submitted will remain associated with the booking. You will not normally need to complete a new Brief solely because the appointment date has changed.
If your project or questions materially change before the rescheduled appointment, we may ask you to provide updated information.
13. Cancellations Outside Your Statutory Cancellation Rights
Once any applicable statutory cancellation period has expired, cancellation and refund requests will be dealt with in accordance with the Studio's cancellation policy.
14. Late Arrival
Please join your consultation promptly at the scheduled time.
If you arrive late, Christian will normally still meet with you, but the consultation will finish at the originally scheduled end time.
The appointment cannot normally be extended because of late arrival as Christian may have other commitments following your consultation.
15. No-Shows
If you have not joined the consultation within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time and have not contacted the Studio, the appointment may be treated as a no-show.
Where an appointment is treated as a no-show, any rescheduling or refund request will be considered in accordance with these Booking Terms and your statutory rights.
16. Technical Difficulties
Virtual Design Consultations take place using an online video meeting platform.
You are responsible for having:
A suitable internet connection;
A compatible device;
Access to the meeting platform; and
Working audio and, where required, video.
We recommend testing your connection and equipment before your appointment.
Technical problems on your side
If you experience technical difficulties, we will make reasonable efforts to assist you.
However, where the problem arises from your internet connection, equipment, software or ability to access the meeting platform, the consultation may still need to finish at the originally scheduled time.
Technical problems on our side
If a technical problem on the Studio's side prevents the consultation from taking place or materially interrupts it, we will make reasonable arrangements to complete the remaining consultation time or reschedule the appointment.
Where appropriate, an alternative meeting method may be used.
17. Advice and Design Decisions
Interior design involves personal preferences, aesthetic judgement and choices between different possible solutions.
Christian's advice represents his professional design opinion based on:
The information available;
The material you provide;
What can reasonably be understood during a remote consultation; and
The matters discussed during your booked appointment.
The Studio does not guarantee a particular aesthetic, commercial, financial, planning, construction or other outcome from following the advice provided.
You remain responsible for deciding whether and how to implement recommendations made during the consultation.
18. Products, Materials and Availability
Where products, materials, finishes, suppliers or brands are discussed during your consultation, availability, pricing, specifications, lead times and suitability may change.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, Christian Bense Studio is not responsible for purchasing, ordering or securing products discussed during a Virtual Design Consultation.
You should confirm dimensions, specifications, pricing, availability and suitability directly with the relevant supplier before purchasing.
19. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights belonging to Christian Bense Studio before your consultation remain the property of the Studio.
Advice and ideas discussed during the consultation are provided for your personal use in connection with the project discussed.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, you may not reproduce, resell, publish or commercially exploit Studio materials or use them for an unrelated commercial project.
Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of Christian Bense Studio's existing intellectual property, designs, methodologies, branding or other proprietary material to you.
20. Uploaded Material and Privacy
To provide the consultation, we may process information including:
Your name and contact information;
Your project or home location;
Photographs of your home;
Plans and drawings;
Questionnaire responses;
Inspiration imagery; and
Other project information you choose to provide.
We will handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Information and files you submit will be made available only to those who reasonably require access for delivering your consultation and administering your booking, subject to the systems and third-party service providers used by the Studio.
Please see our Privacy Policy [LINK] for further information about how your personal information is collected, stored, used and retained.
21. Recording the Consultation
Neither party may make an audio, video or screen recording of the consultation without the prior agreement of the other party.
22. After Your Consultation
The Virtual Design Consultation does not automatically include a formal post-consultation deliverable.
The Studio may send a personal follow-up after your consultation and may contact you again at a later stage to see how your project is progressing.
Any such communication does not create an obligation for the Studio to provide additional design work within the original consultation fee.
If further advice is required, you may:
Book another Virtual Design Consultation; or
Contact the Studio to discuss more bespoke design support.
A further consultation or additional Studio service will be subject to a separate booking and fee.
23. If the Studio Needs to Change Your Appointment
In the unlikely event that Christian Bense Studio needs to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
Depending on the circumstances, we will offer an appropriate alternative, which may include:
Rescheduling your consultation to another available appointment; or
A refund where appropriate.
We are not responsible for indirect expenses you may incur as a result of an appointment being changed, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
24. Our Responsibility to You
We will provide the Virtual Design Consultation with reasonable care and skill.
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that:
Were not foreseeable when the contract was entered into;
Were not caused by our breach;
Result from inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information supplied to us;
Result from work carried out by a third party; or
Relate to business or commercial losses where you are using the service wholly or mainly for business purposes, to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
25. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
We will not be responsible for a delay or failure to provide the consultation caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
These may include widespread internet or telecommunications failures, serious illness, power outages, disruption to third-party platforms or other events that could not reasonably have been prevented.
Where such an event materially affects your consultation, we will make reasonable efforts to arrange an alternative appointment.
26. Complaints
We want your experience with Christian Bense Studio to be a positive one.
If you have a concern about your booking or consultation, please contact us at:
We will endeavour to resolve the matter fairly and within a reasonable period.
27. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Booking Terms from time to time.
The terms that apply to your consultation will normally be those presented to you and accepted when you make your booking.
A copy or link to the applicable terms should be included with your booking confirmation.
28. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections available under the laws of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
Nothing in this clause deprives a consumer of any mandatory rights or protections that apply in their country of residence.
